Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

The General Production Worker operates hand tools to shape Structural Insulated Panels according to blueprint specifications as part of the final finishing process before wrapping and shipment. This role supports a steady production schedule, typically working 40–45 hours per week on a weekday shift with occasional shorter days on Fridays, while contributing to the consistent quality and accuracy of finished panels.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand tools to shape and finish Structural Insulated Panels according to detailed blueprint specifications.
• Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure panels meet required dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform final shaping and finishing of panels as part of the production process prior to wrapping and shipment.
• Follow production instructions and work orders to complete tasks on time and in the correct sequence.
• Support general production and manufacturing activities, including basic machine operation as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
• Inspect completed panels for quality, accuracy, and consistency before they move to the next stage.
• Follow all safety procedures and use tools and equipment correctly to prevent injuries and damage.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily and weekly production goals.
• Participate in training and apply new skills and techniques to improve performance and productivity.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience accurately reading and using a tape measure in a production or similar environment.
• At least 1 year of manufacturing experience in a production, general labor, or general production role.
• Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively for shaping and finishing materials.
• Basic machine operation skills within a manufacturing or production setting.
• Ability to read and follow blueprint specifications and production instructions.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements and high-quality finished products.
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive attitude toward training and skill development.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance to support a regular 40–45 hour workweek.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with Structural Insulated Panels or similar building materials.
• Previous general labor or general production experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working with hand tools and measuring devices in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to adapt to seasonal workload changes, especially during busier summer months.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and production facility focused on Structural Insulated Panels. You typically work a weekday schedule on a first-shift afternoon or evening timeframe from Monday through Thursday, with additional hours on Friday that often result in a shorter day. Weekly hours generally range from 40 to 45, with increased activity during the summer months. The environment involves regular use of hand tools, tape measures, and basic production machinery, and requires standing, moving, and working with materials throughout the shift. Employees follow standard safety practices and wear appropriate work attire suitable for a hands-on production setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
