POSITION SUMMARY

The Anheuser-Busch School of Business at Harris-Stowe State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Economics. The successful candidate will provide full-time academic leadership in economics, a foundational discipline supporting undergraduate business programs across the School. The faculty member will have primary responsibility for teaching Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics and may teach additional economics, statistics, or business courses consistent with academic qualifications and School needs. The position also supports curriculum development, academic advising, assessment, student engagement, and continuous improvement within the Anheuser-Busch School of Business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach a full-time faculty course load in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, normally 12 credit hours during the fall semester and 12 credit hours during the spring semester.
• Teach Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, and other economics or business courses as assigned and consistent with academic qualifications.
• Provide high-quality instruction in face-to-face, online, or other University-approved instructional modalities.
• Develop and maintain engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous courses that connect economic theory with contemporary business and workforce applications.
• Maintain required office hours and provide timely academic support to scholars.
• Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor to assigned business scholars.
• Participate in curriculum development, course review, and continuous improvement within the economics discipline and business core.
• Participate in assessment of student learning, Assurance of Learning activities, and accreditation-related documentation.
• Use student learning and assessment data to improve instruction and academic outcomes.
• Participate in School and University committees, faculty meetings, professional development, and required University activities.
• Engage in appropriate scholarly, professional, and service activities consistent with University expectations.
• Support student retention, persistence, graduation, and career readiness.
• Perform other faculty responsibilities consistent with University policy and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Earned doctorate or other terminal degree in Economics or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Academic preparation sufficient to meet institutional faculty qualification requirements for assigned economics courses.
• Demonstrated knowledge of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory and applications.
• Ability to communicate complex economic concepts effectively to undergraduate students.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and effective teaching.
• Ability to effectively integrate instructional technology into teaching and learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• College or university teaching experience.
• Experience teaching Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics.
• Experience teaching diverse, first-generation, or historically underserved student populations.
• Experience with assessment of student learning, curriculum development, or accreditation.
• Experience applying economics to business decision-making, public policy, entrepreneurship, or workforce issues.
• Evidence of ongoing scholarly or professional engagement in the discipline.

FACULTY EXPECTATIONS

Full-time faculty are expected to fulfill the teaching, advising, office-hour, assessment, professional development, scholarly/service, and University service responsibilities established by Harris-Stowe State University and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Faculty appointments and conditions of employment are subject to University policy and the operative Collective Bargaining Agreement.
